BLACKPOOL SUPER TRAMS
Blackpool supertrames will have a team of 40 drivers next Easter when the service is open,the drivers will be recruited from Blackpool Transport and will have to meet criteria to take the helm of the trams.
During the winter mths while the tramway is closed drivers will be trained for the start of the new service as there is a complete difference from the heritage trams and the new modern ones,and they will be learning from other operators like Manchester.
Bombardier the manufacturer of the trams will be involved for 2 years warranty period, project director said that Blackpool has rough conditions as it is right by the sea and they have taken special care for the Blackpool project.
Blackpool Flexity2tram is the most advanced in the world and other customers in Australia will be there next order
Blackpool still harbers hopes to extend the tramway inland as part of the track is in readiness at Talbert Square for the route up to North Station in the future and if we get the funding the tramway to North Station, Poulton and to Lytham would be a great boost.
