Blackpool tourist leaders will be hopeful that 2012 will be blackpool year with the new Promenarde now open after several years of work to the sea defences, new tram tracks and state of the art trams, and this year is the first for Merlin Entertainments to have all of the attractions open.

Elton Johns first gig in Blackpool for 30 years is going to be a sell out as 12,000 crowd hits Blackpool Promanard in the summer.
With fewer than 2000 tickets left the Fylde coasts awaited gig of the summer on the new Blackpool Tower Headland on Saturday the 16th of June.
The show will be a mix of classic and number one hits and will be a incredible night out.
A week before the show Blackpool visitors will start to see the Blackpool gig take shape and the equipment will be made up of 120 tonnes, 9000 metres of cable, 50 speakers and a 44,000 watts of power for the show to go on.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge unveiled at Blackpool Madame Tussauds and bosses of the Promenade attraction are hoping they will prove to be a big draw during the Queens Diamond Jubilee this year.
Sculptor Stephen Mansfield created the figures at a cost of £150,000 each. Blackpool figures are unique to Blackpool and Kate looks particularly lovely in her dress which makes the figure look stunning.

Blackpool trams back on track apart from a derailment at Fleetwood due to sand on the track, the tram traveled about 2 feet but none of the first paying pasengers were hurt and there was no damage to the tram but Blackpool Transport was forced to to curtail services and did return to service later that morning.
Transport Minister said expanding tram routes linking all mager routes could be on the cards and made sence to consider joining the tramway to Blackpool North Station.

Blackpool new £100m tramway was opened to the public on the 4th of April, the first passengers from Stargate to Fleetwood were VIP'S and competition winners on the 3rd of April.
Blackpool Transport manager said it is a new era for the tramway that was needed and without the investment the tramway would have to be shortened but we now have the chance to build the economy of the Flyde with a proper public transport. Read more »

Showman John Barrowman is coming to Blackpool Prom he is confirmed to entertain on the Tower Headland on Saturday the 23rd of june for a picnic by the seaside with concert-goers invited to bring their own seating and hampers.
The Blackpool event being organised by promoters Cuffe and Taylor,the concert comes on the back of the stellar line up of performers for the Blackpool Headlands this summer, which includes the Wanted and McFly 24th June just seven days after Elton John on the 16th of June. Read more »

Blackpool is teaming up again with Real and Smooth Radio, this will be the 3rd year and the ceremony will take place on the Tower Headlands and broadcast across the UK.

Blackpool £100 million four years project to replace 11 miles of track a state of the art depot and 16 new trams will be compleated and up and running for the 4th april in time for Easter.
Blackpool trams have been built by Bombardier in Germany and the low floor trams with a seating of 74 passengers will have space for wheelchairs and pushchairs and 150 standing spaces.
Blackpool trams will be more efficient and will reduce some jouney's offering residents more speed, accessibility and will be more comfortable. Read more »
